That's way too believable.
That is way too funny....
Kenny, a co-worker, almost fell out of his chair laughing so hard.
It sickens and angers me. I know that it is meant as satire, but one of the biggest hurdles in my transition is the realization that I was denying the divinity of my soul which is female. I can see this being used to marginalize all transgendered people. Add to that the desire to put a mark on someone, that is simply chilling. Sorry, it just pushed too many buttons with me.

Well, yes, it is supposed to be satire. After all, anyone in any stage of transition knows that there's no such thing as "a quick and easy gender reassignment". Transition is a long journey, and it needs to be, because the external changes are not the important ones- it is the internal journey and evolution that are far more significant. And we face even more obstacles than gay marriage, because we are still judged by our birth gender when attempting to marry despite our status in transitioning.
Yes, it would be chilling were it true, and yes, it does marginalize both the battle for gay marriage as well as the transgendered. When was the last time you saw any TS treated with any semblance of dignity or respect in the media? Not bloody often by my count... we're still the butt of jokes, the ultimate in 'haha, fooled ya, now you got some gay on ya'. But sometimes we laugh that we may not weep... ideally, to my mind, any TS who saw this would shake their head and laugh because they know better so very clearly.
Apparently I was incorrect.
It wasn't you it was me. It was very cool of you to post it. The video is a brilliant bit of satire. It's also the cheapening of folks of faith and on the right. It just had too many triggers for me. See I'm a bit of an odder duck; While being in tansition myself, I still have a deep christian faith, and am fairly to the right on a lot of things (mostly fiscal, though my view on gay marrage, heck ANY marrage, is that the government should get out of it altogether). So the video triggered a lot of emotions not by the subject, but rather by the images presented. It's not rational but emotional. And I just wanted to try and express some of what I felt. YIS, WRI
HAHAHA the signs are hilarious.
I know... I may have to make some icons there.
Check under the gown! *dies*
OMG...I didn't look closely and thought it was for real. I was about to get my own panties in a twist until I realized what it really was. lol
I admit, it took me a second too...
but I SO am drawing that tattoo on you at DC LOL
"Pushed too many buttons?" some people need to get a sense of humor.
it was more mocking of the conservative/religious right than it was the transsexuals. and being one of the full-timers (yes, even at my workplace) I found it to be extremely clever.
This was hilarious! The signs are priceless.
On a side note though... I am ashamed at California upholding Prop 8. | |
